Werder
Bremen were eliminated from the Champions League after a 7-2 loss to Lyon.
Werder were already facing difficult odds after losing the first leg match 3-0
at home on February 23rd.
Lyon did not leave Werder
with much hope after two early opening goals from Wiltord and Essien.
After 30 minutes, Werder were already down 3-0. Johan Micoud scored in the
32nd minute to bring the score to 3-1.
Ismaël
scored the second and final goal for Werder when he converted on a spot kick.
Lyon are in the quarter
finals for the second year in a row under coach Paul Le Guen. Lyon
shattered Werder's chances of a dream comeback by a exhibition of their
explosive power upfront and tactical dominance.
