"The team has worked hard together this week and has had time to try to recover from jetlag.  We are looking to get maximum points in Edmonton and anything less will be unsatisfactory.  We need at least one win from our first two home matches to give ourselves a decent chance of advancing to the next stage.  We don't want to fall behind so early in our campaign."

In response to the recent rumours of a move to the Premiership, Paul Stalteri would like to inform his fans that he decided against the move shortly before the end of the transfer window.

"An offer came in from Crystal Palace and after considering the move, I decided it would be better for me and my family to remain in Bremen.  Werder Bremen re-assured me that I was a valuable asset to the club.  Crystal Palace was very professional and made the offer very difficult to refuse."

The Canadian International has a contract with Werder Bremen until the end of the current season.  He also commented on the prospect of playing International football, "I have worked hard over the last seven years with Werder Bremen and after being an integral part of bringing the Championship to Bremen, I am eager to play in the Champions League and work towards continued success in the league."
